A new wool carpet may actually shed heavily for the first few months of use. Since the porous wool fibers are only connected on one end, it is easy for them to come loose, and they tend to ball up because of static. This typically lasts for a month or two (with regular traffic). Frequent vacuuming will help control the amount of loose fibers that are in the room.

You might try a heavy spraying of plan old Lysol spray. Worked for me when our wood stove filled the house with smoke. I would try Original Scent if you can find it. Their website says it's still available.

I'd start by giving it a thorough hoovering (underneath too) then a good airing outside preferably hanging over a washing line so the air can go thru it. Separate the carpet fibres with your fingers (wear gloves!) and then give it a good shake.
If that does not work maybe consider dry cleaning (although I have often found that leaves its own unpleasant odour). There are also cleaners who do only carpets. I have never used them but I have been told their prices can be quite high.
Pure wool does sometimes have its own particular smell which you will not get rid of...only time will do that.
Good luck getting it sorted.

They do not like cedar.

You could test a spot with boric acid powder and see if this will harm your rug.

If not, lighly put powder on the rug and push in with a broom. Let sit for hours and then vacuum.

Or do the same with soda and salt mixed together.

How does the sun stain a rug? Usually people put lemon juice on a stain and put the fabric out in the sun to lighten the stain. Kind of like what happens to a beach ball when left out, it looses its color. If the products you used didn't help, I'm afraid that you must trim it.

Try using GoJo without water.

Rub the stuff into the stain then wipe it out with a paper towel. Test it in an inconspicuous spot first to make sure the gojo won't stain the carpet.

Wall to wall means padding, too...so the urine will soak through to the padding and ultimately to the floor.

You can spend big bucks on a carpet cleaning chemical or system, but they won't get to the padding and the floor.

Best thing to do is immediately blot up the liquid, then rewet with baking soda water, reblot, and do over and over again.

Baking soda will lift the stain and odor, won't bleach, and is safe. However, if you don't blot the urine immediately, sorry...you have the stain for life.
